Reflecting after the 2nd week and the trip ahead.

Post from Andrew

This is the last day of the 2nd week of our trip, we have completed nearly 190 miles of walking to reach our first re-supply point. The supplies were sorted out into our pulks and we did come across some treats which was a surprise - we enjoyed smoked salmon, fresh bread and some cake - all frozen…. naturally!!

We spent yesterday resting, recovering and making phone calls to schools - It was great to answer questions about the expedition .

Despite having covered the distance of 7 marathons and walked the height of 3500ft - the equivalent of 3 x Empire state building, we realise we have barely scratched the surface of the periphery of Antarctica. We have over 14 marathons left over the next 30 days or so.

As I speak the wind is howling outside our tent and we recognise that as we step closer to the pole the weather will deteriorate and become more severe, however morale is high and we realise we are only a few days away to half way point.

Thanks for all your support and we look forward to seeing you all soon

Andrew

  1. Dear Guys-
What an inspiration to read your posts each day. Thank you for your determination, stamina and positive spirits. Every time I begin to complain about the cold, the rain or getting wood for the stove, I stop, think of you guys and send you blessings
    Peace
    J
